About & user menu
FilmoScope opens two ways into the same quiet ritual: let the iPhone shoot like film, or let real film leave a digital trace you can keep. The app is iPhone-only for now — iPad is not supported.
Capture or import frames into album boxes. Choose a 27 or 36 roll, then Full Film or Half Film. Hide the roll while it is Developing, reveal it when Developed, and export a contact sheet to Photos.
Shoot. Organise. Remember the roll.
Developing & Developed mode
Each album has a status badge you can tap to switch between Developing and Developed.
- Developing — photos are covered (like a roll still in the lab). You cannot add, replace, delete, or export frames while this mode is on.
- Developed — photos are revealed. You can edit frames, add notes, fill in “Developed By”, and export a contact sheet.
Roll length (27 or 36)
At the bottom of an album grid, tap the small 27 / 36 control to match your film.
- 36 — classic roll (Half Film = 72 slots).
- 27 — shorter roll (Half Film = 54 slots).
Half frame & full frame
The album badge shows Half Film or Full Film. Tap it to switch.
- Full Film — one photo per strip cell.
- Half Film — two photos side by side in each strip cell.
Extra frames (+)
Some rolls develop with a few bonus frames. At the bottom of the album, tap the small dark + to add three extra cells (six on Half Film).
- Extras appear only after you tap +.
- If you never add extras, the exported contact sheet stays the normal 27 or 36 layout.
Reorder albums
On the Albums list, use ↑ and ↓ on each card to move that album up or down.
Delete camera, album, or photo
- Camera — long-press the camera, then tap the red X.
- Album — long-press the album card, then tap the red X on the right.
- Photo — open the frame, then long-press the image to delete (not available while the album is Developing).
Film notes
Keep a simple free-text note for the roll — what is loaded, frame settings, or what comes next. Write it your own way so you can pause and pick up later.
Frame colour
Tap the film strip (the sprocket frame around the photo gates) to switch between black & white and colour strip styles.

- Delete a camera — long-press → tap red X
- Delete an album — long-press → tap red X on the right
- Delete a photo — open the frame → long-press the image

Privacy & data collection

FilmoScope is built so your photos and album data stay on your device. This policy describes what the app accesses and what it does not collect.
What we collect
We do not collect, upload, or sell personal data. There is no account system, no analytics SDK, and no advertising network in FilmoScope.
Data stored on your device
- Album names and layout you create in the app
- Photos you capture or import, saved in the app’s local storage
- Optional notes you attach to a frame (aperture, shutter, date, location text, remarks)
- Optional free-text film notes for a roll (loaded film, settings, what comes next)
This information stays on your iPhone unless you export a contact sheet or photo into your Photos library yourself.
Permissions
- Camera — to photograph a film frame
- Photo library — to pick an existing image or save an export you request
Permissions are only used for those features. FilmoScope does not scan your library in the background.
Third parties
FilmoScope does not send your photos or album data to our servers. If you later enable a cloud backup from your device (iCloud, Google backup, etc.), that is controlled by your device settings, not by FilmoScope.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
